PASSPORT TO SUCCESS PROGRAMME, THIMPU, BHUTAN

passportIn December 2012, Youthreach established a new international partnership by collaborating with Bhutan Youth Development Fund (YDF). The Bhutan Youth Development Fund, with a special focus on disadvantaged youth, enables Bhutanese youth to realise their full potential as productive citizens. It provides financial support for youth development activities like leadership skills, drug rehabilitation, special education, basic skills and vocational training, advocacy research and education. YDF realized that the Passport to Success program offered by Youthreach can be of utmost importance for achieving the same. Hence Youthreach conducted an eight day training program in December 2012 called Passport to success at YDF, Thimpu, Bhutan. The training program which reached out to 11 trainers and aimed to train them to impart the Life skills and work place English programme for capacitating their target group. Majority of the trainers trained were the program officers working full time with YDF.

On 27-28 May 2015, the Queen of Bhutan Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Pem Wangchuck, Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck and Team YDF visited Youthreach, to take the Youthreach- BYDF partnership to the next level. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the existing programmes and explore more areas, where both the organisations could work together, to achieve their common goal of empowering youth.

As a part of the same, Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck visited the Workforce Readiness Programme learning centre, to meet and interact with the beneficiaries of the programme. The objective was also to understand the unique and best practices in training followed by Youthreach, to conduct its training programmes. Enthralled by the work Youthreach does, Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck invited Youthreach to Bhutan, to set up a Training Unit for BYDF and conduct more Passport to Success trainings focused on Life Skills and Workplace English, for their existing and new trainers.
