Children from disadvantaged backgrounds have limited exposure to the creative arts and reading. Keeping this in mind, Youthreach has undertaken a new project of setting up community libraries in slum colonies. The library not only provides reading material to the community but is also a space for self-expression through various creative forms. The library gives hundreds of children an opportunity to read, learn and share.

Our journey of spreading love for reading and learning began, in 2019, with our first collaboration with ONE UP Library, Bookstudio and Learning Lab, and Shanti Devi Charitable Trust. Together, we set up a library in Kusumpur Pahari village, Vasant Kunj, marking the start of our mission to make books accessible to children in underserved communities.

Building on this momentum, we launched our second library in 2020 at Rangpuri Village, followed by our third library in Munirka, set up in 2023 with our partner NGO Spread a Smile, in collaboration with ONE UP Library and Book Studio. This library has become a hub for over 500 children in the community, providing them with a safe space to explore, learn, and enjoy books. Our fourth community library, in partnership with ONE UP, was established, in 2024, at Sshrishti Trust in Vasant Kunj, further expanding our reach. And, our fifth community library, also in partnership with ONE UP, was set up at Udyam Trust in Gautam Nagar in 2025. The sixth community library was established at Jamghat in Aya Nagar in 2026.

Through these collaborations, we created welcoming spaces where children can discover the joy of reading, dream big, and develop a lifelong love for learning. We’re proud of our journey so far and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of children through our community libraries.

Together, we are committed to empowering our community through knowledge and creating opportunities for growth and development. This library is not just a collection of books; it is a hub for inspiration, learning, and community building. The libraries are very welcoming to the children, colourful and aesthetically designed with different genres of books for all ages.
